Using historic vehicles

More information

Severely disabled passengers are carried free of charge if they have a valid severe disability pass and the social services form with a valid stamp

Passengers with restricted mobility ought to be able to be as mobile as any other passenger. Barriers are being removed from more and more stops and stations in the VVO area. We are working to provide you with increased barrier-free mobility. If you require barrier-free access to the historic forms of transport (narrow gauge railways, the Bergbahns or the Kirnitzsch Valley Tramway), you sometimes need to register your journey in advance.

Here you will find the contact details for the transport companies concerned, and details of when you need to pre-register your journey by:

Kirnitzsch Valley Tramway

On the Kirnitzsch Valley Tramway, passengers with limited mobility can get on and off more easily at the “Bad Schandau Kurpark” and “Lichtenhainer Wasserfall” stops. At these stops, the platforms are raised. You just need to cope with a small step in order to get on the tram, and the staff will help you with a mobile ramp.

Passengers with limited mobility can also get on and off at all the other stops if they are able to cope with the doorway (2 high steps) themselves or with a little help from a companion. Wheelchairs need to be of the folding type. Unfortunately, electric wheelchairs cannot be taken on.

Please contact the OVPS in advance because there is a limited number of wheelchair spaces on the Kirnitzsch Valley Tramway. Please let us know, at least 5 days before you travel, what your start and end station will be, including your departure date (departure time), by contacting:

The stations at Radebeul Ost and Moritzburg have lifts to help passengers with disabilities or restricted mobility to get on and off the narrow gauge line. However, it is best if you get in touch before travelling. Please let us know, at least 1 day before you travel, your start and end station and your departure date (departure time) by contacting:

Suspension Railway

As it is a listed monument, because there is limited space, and since there is a maximum gradient of 6 %, wheelchair users may not use the Suspension Railway.
